CTET – Central Teachers Eligibility Test

Central Teachers Eligibility Test (CTET) to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi is conducted by The Ministry of Human Resource Development. CTET is conducted 2 times in a year and it is the entrance exam for the recruitment of Primary stage teacher (I to V) and Elementary stage teacher (VI to VIII).

Scope of CTET is to settled as a primary and elementary teacher in the schools.

For Primary Stage (I – V):

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). (OR)  in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. (OR)  2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*.
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). (OR)  Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

* a Diploma/Degree course in teacher education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) . And  Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.ED (Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).

For Elementary Stage (VI – VIII):

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). (OR) at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. (OR) B.Ed. (Special Education)*.
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)/B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
  • Candidates who are doing now final year of Bachelor Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc. are provisionally admitted and their CTET Certificate shall be valid only on passing the aforesaid Examinations, before the declaration of the CTET result.

CTET Qualified candidates want to know the applicability of CTET Qualifying Certificate.

Eligibility certificate or Qualifying certificate is valid for Seven years  from date of declaration of its result for all categories.

Syllabus and Exam Pattern:

The CTET examination will be of objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). There will be no negative marking. There will be 2 papers of CTET. For detailed information about CTET Syllabus and Exam Pattern check official notification.
